Definitions

Home Page – The first page you see when you come to PutnamGOP.com

Secondary Page – A page you link to from the home page.  The secondary page does not open a new window but opens up within the Home Page window.

Linked Pages – A web page that is linked to which is not part of the PutnamGOP website itself.  These pages are opened up in a new window (a new tab) and leave the PutnamGOP webpage window (tab) open in case you want to go back to it directly.

Navigation Buttons – These are the buttons  | } at the upper right hand corner of your browser (FireFox, Safari, Explorer, Chrome), which allows you to go backward and forward between web pages you have viewed within your current window.  These buttons are only active when they are black.  If one or both are grey, it means that there were no web pages viewed in that direction within the current window.

TAB – Most browser now use a TABs at the top of the window to show you the windows which are currently opened.  Each TAB shown is for a different open window.

 

Purpose of Our Website

The purpose of our website is to provide a single source for informing people on political issues, directing them to other reputable web sites and to provide a smile or two whenever the political scene gets depressing  # :-) .

We are committed to maintaining the information on this site and keeping it up to date.  On many of the pages you will see a date listed to the left of a list of entries.  This date shows you when the entry was posted on the list.  Thus you can quickly see whether or not the entry is recent or old.

 

Helpful Hints

- To learn about what is new on the website, go to the [FYI – New Info.] menu item and then select [This Month] in the submenu..

- When viewing videos, click on the fullscreen icon (normally in the bottom right corner of the video window) to watch the video on your fullscreen.  To exit the fullscreen video viewing, click on the ESC key (upper left hand corner of most keyboards.)

 

Navigating our Website

- Our website has a Home Page, numerous Secondary Pages, and a multitude of Linked Pages.  To navigate between the many web pages, you select a menu item on the Home Page to go to a Secondary Page or in some cases directly to a Linked Page.  When you finish viewing a secondary page, you use the navigation button ƒ in your browser to go back to the main Page.   When you are finished viewing a Linked Page you can either close the tab for that page or leave the Linked Page open and go back to the Main or Secondary Page by changing the active tab.

- On the right side of the screen are buttons where visitors can quickly learn about where we meet, donate to our local GOP party, etc.  Just clicking on the button takes you to that function.

- On the left side of the screen is a long vertical menu strip.  The menu items in this strip guide you to the information on our website.  When a menu item has a white arrow w on its right, it means that when you place the cursor over the menu item, a submenu will appear.  Submenu can sometimes also have submenus.  When you get to a menu item or submenu item without a white arrow on its right, click on that item and it will take you to the web page described by the menu.
